Transport emissions
The transport sector is key to the functioning of a modern economy, facilitating the movement of goods and services domestically and internationally. Transport also has a significant impact on the environment. In the UK, transport is the largest contributor to domestic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In 2019, it accounted for 27%, and while other sectors have seen their share reduce in recent years, carbon emissions from transport have remained largely flat between 2009 and 2019, only recording a steep decline as a result of the pandemic.
Our strategy
Since our beginning, one of our main goals has been to minimise our environmental impact. Through regular analysis of our processes and a variety of schemes, we aim to be completely carbon neutral and we can help your business achieve the same result by implementing the following strategies to your logistics:
- Reducing empty miles – we work with our customers and plan our deliveries to reduce our miles travelled without a load. Recently, studies have shown 25% of vehicles on the road are empty and those that are not empty are only two-thirds full, needlessly increasing carbon emissions. Find Out More.
- Co-loading – we offer a co-loading option with all of our deliveries as this allows our vehicles to be completely full and make more deliveries in the one journey when compared with a direct and dedicated delivery. This will reduce each business’s carbon footprint and transport spend as this service is cheaper in cost when compared to a dedicated delivery.
- Recycling – we offer an additional service to our specialist furniture delivery operation which is recycling all packaging including cardboard, plastic and glass as this further supports your business becoming carbon neutral.
